SET CONCEPT

Post to your blogs 150 words which start to tease out a theoretical context relating to concepts apparent in your set of ‘Set’ images and drawing on ideas raised in the weekly readings

The conventional notion of set is a group of similar things that belong together in some ways or in a particular position. My interpretation of 'SET' is the combination of Group and Freedom. The meaning of 'Group' in this sense may be a number of individuals gathered and classified together because of common characteristics or identities. A group may involve a set of rules which controls or influences the group's performance or behaviour. Those rules perhaps manage or make a group happen in a particular way. Each individual might need to adapt to a set of those conditions which may influence its acts or thoughts. In a short summary, a set may be seen as a group which is under control by a particular set of rules. Another interpretation of set is associated with 'Freedom'. Once a set is over all the restraints, the state of being free is interpreted. Each individual could act with freedom, not being affected by any rules. It might perform with the ease of movement or action. Thus, the nature of its characteristic will probably appear when it is set free.
