The main concept of my third assignment is “Building Life Cycle”. The term building life cycle involves a wide variety of technologies and practices, on varying scales. It combines various activities which can be viewed as an industrial process. I would like to put emphasis on the different stages of building: design, construction, use, maintenance, demolition, deconstruction, recycle, and reconstruction. I will highlight these processes by employing "Lego" as a representative of "Building". The video will also emphasize the sustainability. It will show the examples of life cycle idea where building function and flexibility, environment and social impacts are all considered. For example, one way sustainability can be achieved within the demolition stage is by deconstructing buildings so that materials and components (such as doors and windows) can be reused/recycled. In addition, I might show the transformation of recycle materials from one building to another new building.
